Treatment & Preparation
-
Before starting treatment, we recommend a dental check-up to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy. If needed, your dentist may suggest a cleaning or fillings before braces or aligners are placed.
-
Avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods such as popcorn, nuts, caramel, and chewing gum. Cut crunchy foods like broccoli, apples and carrots should be grated.
-
Adjustment appointments are usually every 6-8 weeks for braces. If you have clear aligners, visits may be less frequent, depending on your treatment plan.
-
You may feel some discomfort for a few days after getting braces or switching to a new aligner. This is normal and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief if needed.
-
Brush after every meal, floss daily, and use any special cleaning tools recommended by your orthodontist. Regular dental check-ups and a hygiene clean visit every 6 months are also important to maintain oral health.
